These Are The Daughters Ministries

Reverend Leona Nicholas Welch, born in Mobile, Alabama, in a family of nine children is an ordained minister with a long-time record of service to the sick and the shut-in, and has served as pastoral care minister and volunteer hospital chaplain.  For over 40 years she has ministered as retreat, seminar and conference speaker.  As an Elder of the African Methodist Episcopal (A.M.E. Zion) Church, she has served as senior pastor, and is currently serving on the ministerial staff of Kyles Temple AME Zion Church, Vallejo CA.   She is the founder and director of SAGE (Seniors Advancing God's Excellence), a Seniors Ministry of the AME Zion Church, Western District.

Reverend Welch is the founder and director of These Are The Daughters Ministries, Inc. designed to plan, coordinate, and implement conferences and seminars focused on specific spiritual needs, particularly of women.  In addition to her ministerial work, Rev. Welch is the author of published poetry, plays, short stories, religious and educational works, a children's novel and a young adult novel.  She has been blessed to have had several of her plays produced nationally.

 A retired community college English Instructor, Leona Nicholas Welch received her Bachelor of Arts Degree in English from Mills College; Oakland, California and her Master of Arts Degree in English from Holy Names University; Oakland, California.  Welch received her Master of Divinity Degree from the American Baptist Seminary of the West, an affiliate of the  Graduate Theological Seminary of Berkeley, California.  She received two Certificates of Completion in Biblical Counseling from Light Learning University, affiliate of the American Association of Christian Counselors. 

Reverend Welch is the mother of six children and grandmother of ten.
